    Religion, Culture and COVID-19 Webinar

Monday, April 13, 2020 at 4:30 PM until 5:30 PMEastern Daylight Time UTC -04:00

Professor Jonathan Golden, Director of Drew University Center on Religion, Culture and Conflict will lead a conversation examining the social and ethno-religious dimensions of our response to the Covid19 virus.

As social beings, we humans have a hard time avoiding our tendency to put all phenomena, even a virus, into social categories.  And while crises such as the current pandemic tend to bring out the best in people, unfortunately, we have also seen some instances where it seems to play on people’s fears.  What are some of the risks involved in how we talk about and react to the pandemic, and how can we ensure that we don’t let the search for answers and explanations lead us to bigotry and xenophobia?  We will also explore some of the ways the virus impacts various communities differently.
Prof. Golden will be joined by additional experts from the field.

Registration is no longer available because the registration deadline has passed.
